What Is the Purpose of a College Application Essay?

What Is the Purpose of a College Application Essay?Every student dreams of being accepted for college, but one question often hangs in the air: What is the purpose of a college application essay? It is true that there are many different types of essay applications and they do vary, depending on the type of essay. This article will look at some of the most common ones, as well as their purpose.First, we will look at a high school level application, which usually consists of two parts. The first part is used to provide a 'prospectus' for the reader about the student. In this case, the prospective student will be reviewing or evaluating the student, or the high school curriculum and teachers. The second part is a response to the prospectus, usually done by the faculty or other administrators at the college or university. The content in this part is used to provide answers to questions such as: Why should I apply to this college? For example, if the school is interested in seeing if the st udent has developed a leadership role with students in a religious organization, they would write a 'position statement' for the prospect. It would contain information about how much effort the student has made to promote students and leadership in their group. It would also detail any other activities that have been done by the student. In addition, the essay would also include information about how the student can use this experience in their future. For example, they could use it to inspire other students, or even a class or co-worker.A college application essay for a nontraditional student, such as one with little to no experience, may contain very little information about themselves. The general purpose of this type of essay is to show how the student can use their experiences to benefit others, or themselves. The same holds true for essays that are for transfer students. Instead of providing detailed information about their experiences, they are more focused on presenting themse lves in a positive light to potential professors, parents, and others. One final example of the 'purpose' of a college application essay, is that it is an opportunity for students to express what they hope to achieve in their future. For example, one student may be interested in majoring in English Literature, while another wants to major in Business. In these situations, an essay may focus on what the student hopes to accomplish in their future, and not on what they want to accomplish at the moment.
